Yeah so Augustus Caesar had an assortment of names. He was born with the name Gaius Octavianus(octavian) but later took the name of Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus after the murder of his great uncle Julius Caesar. In his will Caesar had adopted Octavian and made him his heir. In 27 B.C., after he defeated the roman traitor Marc Antony, the Roman Senate granted him the name Augustus, meaning "the exalted" and officially made him emperor.
